Hello,

The list by block function works perfect, but it is not possible to nest a block?

Any idea?

Kind regards,

Hi Thomas,

Yes, you can nest block as a group. What is the problem?

If you want, send me the file in private or by email and I will check it.

Thanks and best regards,

Hi,

My blocks didn't contain any curves (only surfaces), so that is part of the problem. When I DubBorder and add the curves to the blocks it works fine!

After this I bumped into another little issue. The blocks are renamed to [blockname](Nest0). Because I have to extract the blocknames at the end for a partslist, it is not so easy to compare my partslayout with my nesting.

Last but not least, when I have mirrored blocks the blocks are mirrored back when I optimize position! I my case this is not very good, because I need them to stay mirrored.

e.g.

block1---block1(Nest0)

block2---block2(Nest0)

Thanks in advance!

Hi Rafael,

I bump into another little issue, the 3dm file and a jpg is attached! Mirrored blocks are not working well, or I am trying someting that is not possible!

Thanks!

Hi,

We need to investigate even more to know why these blocks are creating problem.

The solution for now is convert the block to groups. I attach an script to do it.

How to use it?

1. In menu Tools -> RhinoScript -> Load -> Add, and select the attached file.

2. In menu Tools -> RhinoScript -> Run:

3. Select ConvertBlockToGroup and click OK.

4. Select the block and that's it! :)

Please let me know if you have any question.

Thanks and best regards,

Many thanks! It is a good temporary solution, but in the future we would like to have a 3d model of blocks and a 2d nesting with the same blocks. If that is possible, the changes made to the 3d model are updated in the nesting!! This would be a huge step forward!

Thanks

grouping geometry for nesting in grasshopper

HiI'm trying to nest a small square within a larger rectangle in grasshopper. (i.e. a hole)  When i nest it treats the geometry as seperate objects rather than one large rectangle with a square hole in it. it works fine in plain rhino by grouping the objects but you can't group geometry in grasshopper.I'm using c# to create the geometry does anyone know of a way to combine separate curves into the one object (that RhinoNest will see as one object) either with a grasshopper component or a c#…See More
