RhinoNest, nesting for Rhino

Optimize Position and Orientation of Objects

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a function to generate a list of all the nested parts per sheet or so.
This might be usefull to check if all parts are nested and also if all parts are actually ready for production.

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

that's a good idea.
Hi Thomas,

Good idea, we have something developed now. What do you need that the list includes?

- num of objects
- list of objects name?
- snapshot of the sheet?

Anything else?

Thanks and best regards,

Thanks for the quick reaction!

I think that the list must include:

-Number of all objects
-Number of objects that are the same (for large amount of brackets or so)
-List of objects name
-List of used plates (eg. 6x2m, 8x2m, steel, aluminium, etc)
-List of objects per plate

I think this is al the information that is needed.

Many thanks!!

This is one of those areas that I was asking about in my email to you guys about how Zebra and RhinoNEST could work together.

Interested in seeing what you got cooking!

Hi Rafael,

Can you please give me an estimation of the time that is needed to "upgrade" rhinonest with the list report function?
This is because i'm testing different programs and because I want to purchase nesting software verry soon!

Last but not least, i was experimenting nesting with AutoCad blocks and it was working quite good, except for the fact that i was trying to nest 50 same blocks and it didn't work out. I tried two options:
-Selecting 50 blocks (rhinonest placed blocks over eachother)
-Selecting 1 block and set quantity to 50 (rhinonest said: block already exists)

Thanks and best regards,

Hi Bruce,

We are starting to work on it. Just a doubt, and this is a public question! :), the name of the objects must be from the List id or the Rhino Object Name? or get the list if it exist or get the curve name if not?

Hi Rafael,

My name is Thomas, the company name is Bruce Roberts Europe bv.

I think it depends on the output of the constructionparts. Our output is from AutoCad, and we work with blocks with text and innerlines included. If you import this in Rhino (in the future we might draw the constructionparts in Rhino) the blocknames aren't included in the "object type" field but only imported as a "block instance". So if you want to generate a list from generated blocks. It is found in the "Block definition name" under "block instance". You can use the "what"-command instead of the "list"-command to generate info about the block definition name.

I hoop it is possible!

Hi Thomas,

Yes, is it possible, and not too much complex. May you send me a Autocad file to test it?

Thanks,

Hi Thomas and Bruce,

We add a new command RhinoNestListByblockInstance:

I was testing with some blocks and works really fine. We have the same functionality as List but using the block instance name.

that's brilliant!

Would it be out of the scope of RhinoNEST to make a browser type interface to pull in the blocks?
One that perhaps we could also add information to the block such as material information?

This is what I am working for in my new quest to get all the parts we make in blocks and nesting them, but the key is the having a browser to pull the blocks in efficiently.
